Due to the nature of a Veterinary Emergency & Referral practice, the ideal candidate has experience working in the veterinary industry; triaging patient concerns, quick thinking, reliability/maturity, and an understanding of medical scenarios. That being said, the right background in client care and an ability to learn quickly is the biggest asset.
Thorough training is provided to all new team members, although a high majority of skills are learned on the job.

Tech Assistant Team Lead
Southern Alberta Veterinary Emergency is a growing emergency practice just north of Okotoks. We are currently looking for a new Team Lead Tech Assistant to join our team.
SAVE is part of the VetStrategy group of clinics. VetStrategy is a 100% Canadian operated group of veterinary clinics with locations throughout Canada. We believe that veterinary clinics are an integral part of the community they serve and as such we put a large focus on community-based activities and initiatives. Every clinic we partner with is unique and serves a very diverse client base.
The role of team lead is to provide mentorship and leadership in all aspects of TA duties, and is expected to work alongside the other team leads and management. The position consists of 8 hour shifts Monday to Thursday, however coverage is expected if needed for weekends, overnights and holidays. Starting wage will be reflected on experience.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Attend frequent meetings with management, and the other Team Leads
- Organizing meetings, providing agendas and completing the minutes
- Protocol Updates, creating and implementing
- Scheduling and adjusting/approving time sheets
- Perform interviews, reviews and other important documentation
- Organize and perform training for new staff
- Provide and organize CE’s when possible
- Ordering clinic supplies
- Equipment maintenance and ordering
- Performing and organizing training
- Providing assistance to all areas of the clinic including CCS, and normal TA duties in ER and Surgery

The ideal candidate should have:
· A minimum of 4 years experience as Tech Assistant, or more is an asset
· Experience in Emergency medicine, it is not essential but is an asset

· Solid communication skills, both when dealing with clients and interpersonal relationships
· A high level of standard in quality of work and work ethic
· Interest in a leadership role of a growing emergency practice
· Dedication, initiative and the drive to go above and beyond
